 After the successful conclusion of the 14th conference of the Society which also included the 5th conference of the paediatricians of the SAARC countries, it is indeed an honor and challenging to steer the Society into the next term of 2008-2010. I would like to thank all my colleagues for bestowing on me this honor.
I would like to congratulate and thank the out going executive for the excellent work done during the tenure of 2006-2008. Especially for their outstanding contribution in obtaining the registration certification of the NEPAS building for solving the problem of the NEPAS building tenant for development of NEPAS website for coming out with several issues of NEPAS journal and having it indexed & successful conduction of CB-IMCI trainings in districts of Phythan, Panchthar, Siraha & Sanjha besides successfully organizing the usual activities of the society.
There are lot of challenges and scopes for us to improve the Society and thus contribute to the overall development of child health in Nepal. The executive committee will develop the vision for the term 2008-2010 and will follow the activities planned there in along with focus on the usual NEPAS activities. The committee will also new activities which will involve all our members in Kathmandu as well as those outside the valley. We will duly inform you about these.
Newborn and adolescent health establishment of technical institution in child health, to increase research in child health by paediatricians in Nepal are some of the fields we would especially like to take initiatives in along with that we would like to improve our relation and cooperation with the national and international NGOs in Nepal and outside and also initiate activities for the members to take more active role in the affairs of the society.
